The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) can now issue heavy motor driving licence, thanks to the Skill India initiative of the government of India. According to RTC officials, the corporation can now train the drivers in its driving testing tracks in the Transport Academy on the outskirts of the city.
The officials said the Union government had started Skill Development Ministry and had been encouraging different institutions to impart skills to the youth. The Central government has been giving funds to run the institution and also authorise the institutions to issue certificates.
A senior official said the Centre had communicated the corporation to initiate training of the heavy motor driving for the needy people. “The corporation has enough infrastructures in the academy to train drivers and it has been doing it for years and the track record of shows that,” said the official.
