In this context, the government has taken a decision to increase the number of wards based on the Ward Reorganization Study Report of the GHMC Commissioner. The Commissioner submitted a report to the government after examining the data of 27 urban local bodies.

This study was undertaken under the auspices of the Center for Good Governance. Considering the increased population and urban expansion within the GHMC limits, the number of new wards has been finalized as per the provisions of the GHMC Act 1955 (Section 8, Section 5). It was also suggested to provide 500 copies to the Printing Department. The re-division of wards in GHMC will become crucial for the upcoming corporation elections. After the release of the gazette, objections will be given for a week. After that, changes and additions will be made and the notification will be finalized. (Maxim News
