Oberoi Group Chairman Passes Away

Mumbai/Hyderabad, Nov 14 (Maxim News): Oberoi Group of Hotels and Resorts Chairman Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi (94) passed away on Tuesday morning due to illness. In 2002, he took over as the Chairman and Director of IEH Limited after the death of his father Mohan Singh Oberoi.  He continued as the CEO of the company till 2013.

Prithvi Raj Singh is the Chairman and Director of EIH Limited till May 2022.  Later he decided to leave his post.  His nephew Arjun Singh Oberoi was appointed as the Executive Chairman. His son Vikram Oberoi, Managing Director of Oberoi Hotels, said that Oberoi used to devote more time to his health.

Prithvi Raj Singh completed his education in India, the UK, and Switzerland in 1967, he established the Oberoi Center of Learning and Development in Delhi.  

Oberoi was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2008 for his services in the fields of tourism and hospitality.

He won the title of Businessman of the Year in 2008.

He was awarded the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2010 for his accommodation in luxury hotels.

Won the Corporate Hotelier of the World Award in November 2010  Awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the All India Management Association (AIMA) in February 2013.

In 2015, he was selected as one of the top 15 Indian business giants by CNBC. (Maxim News)
