Officials directed to prevent spread of infectious diseases in flood-hit areas
Hyderabad, July 16 (Maxim News): Health Minister T Harish Rao has directed the officials concerned to take adequate steps on war footing to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the flood-hit areas and to set up health camps in villages.
Minister Harish Rao held a review meeting with district health officials and medical officers here on Saturday and discussed about the effective measures to contain the spread of diseases in the flood-hit areas.
Stating that the doctors should be available round the clock and they should not take leaves, the Minister asked them to participate in health camps and ensure diagnosis where required and supply of medicine as needed.
As the Godavari river has been receiving heavy flood water for the last six days and many villages located on the Godavari basin were inundated under a sheet of flood water, Harish Rao directed the public health department director, Srinivas Rao, to work from Kothagudem and director of the medical education, Ramesh Reddy, from Mancherial, for coordinating with health camps and other measures taken up by the State government.
