Old City Metro Rail: JAC Demands Immediate Commencement of Construction

Hyderabad, August 24 (Maxim News): The Old City Metro Rail Joint Action Committee (JAC) has strongly urged the immediate start of long-awaited metro rail construction in Hyderabad’s old city.

The JAC leaders presented a petition to N.V.S. Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), on August 24. They pointed out that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had assured the state assembly that the metro rail project in the old city would be started soon.

However, the actual work has not yet begun, casting doubt on the government’s commitment to the project.

The JAC said that the metro rail would have a major impact on the old city, which is densely populated and lacks adequate public transportation.

The metro would provide a much-needed alternative to buses and autorickshaws, and would help to reduce traffic congestion. It would also boost economic development in the old city.

The JAC warned that if the government does not start the metro rail project soon, the JAC will launch a protest movement.

The protest will be supported by prominent leaders from the old city, including T. Narasimha, Usman Al Hajri, K. Venkatesh, MD. Moosa Karim, S. Chhayadevi, Hyderabad District CPI Secretary, Kamatham Yadagiri, Assistant Secretary, and other dedicated participants.

The JAC’s petition is a clear and urgent call for the government to take action on the metro rail project. The project has the potential to transform the old city and improve the lives of its residents. The government should not delay any further. (Maxim News)
