Opening Ceremony of 37th Hyderabad Sailing Week and Laser National Championship

Secunderabad, 04 Jul 2023: The Opening Ceremony of the prestigious 37th Hyderabad Sailing Week-2023 and Laser National Championship was conducted on 04 Jul 2023 under the aegis of EME Sailing Association (EMESA) and Laser Class Association of India along with Secunderabad Sailing Club at Hussain Sagar Lake, Hyderabad. A large number of potential and professional sailors are participating in this Championship who have come from the length and breadth of the country.

The event was inaugurated by Lieutenant General JS Sidana, Commandant MCEME, Colonel Commandant Corps of EME, Commodore EME Sailing Association and Vice President Laser Class Association of India. In his Inaugural address, the General Officer complimented the EME Sailing Association for planning such a grand event and also appreciated the Telangana Sports Association for motivating the youth of the state for taking up this competitive sport. He stated that this will pave the way for the sailors to represent the Nation at various National & International Forums and bring laurels for the country in the future.

The Hyderabad Sailing Week is an Annual National Regatta which is conducted every year at the Hussain Sagar Lake. For the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, it is an event all its residents look forward too. The flagging off Ceremony on 04 Jul 2023 by Lieutenant General JS Sidana, Commandant MCEME, Colonel Commandant Corps of EME, included more than 100 Sail Boats. This National Laser Championship is also a trial event for the Asian Games. Yachting Association of India (YAI) accorded accreditation to this event.

The week-long event will conclude on 09 Jul 2023 wherein, all the event organisers and award winners will be facilitated at the Secunderabad Sailing Club.
