Ordnance Factory Medak to roll out its CCPT Vehicles on 30th October
Secunderabad, 29 Oct 2023: Ordnance Factory Medak (OFMK) is one of the 5 Production units of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd (AVNL), which is one of the newly formed Defence Public Sector Units under Ministry of Defence, GoI. AVNL primarily manufactures Armoured fighting vehicles (Main Battle Tanks) & Mine Protected Vehicles for Indian Armed Forces.
Some of the important products of AVNL are T-90 Tank, T-72 Tank, BMP-II (Sarath Tank) & MBT Arjun. In a concerted effort to bolster the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, AVNL has not only committed to produce proven battle tanks to Indian Army, but also actively involved in the development and manufacture of new Indigenous battle tanks, tailored to meet the evolving needs of the Indian Army and the ever-changing dynamics of the battlefield.
Carrier Command Post Tracked (CCPT) Vehicle is the result of one of such effort. CCPT is designed by Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), DRDO. The CCPT is designed and developed for accomplishing all tactical/technical fire control functions to achieve effective deployment of Self Propelled (SP) Artillery guns.
It is the first of its kind with tracked chassis, housing Artillery Combat Command and Control System (ACCCS) for accomplishing fire control functions of all the versions of Artillery guns, both towed and self-propelled versions.
The CCPT is a re-engineered BMP vehicle with an extended chassis and additional bogey wheels. CCPT serves as a common platform for command post functions of all the Indian Artillery guns.
To achieve the above tasks, it carries a special equipment namely Integrated Command Control and Communication system for Artillery Tracked (i3CAT) which was successfully developed by M/s. BEL, Bengaluru.
In the year 2018, OFMK received an indent for Supply of 43 Vehicles. This demonstrates the confidence and trust placed by the Indian Army on OFMK for Manufacturing of CCPT vehicles.
In the year 2021, OFMK successfully Manufactured two vehicles of the CCPT as the First of Production Model (FoPM) and offered to the Indian Army for Trails.
These vehicles Proved their effectiveness in the battlefield through their successful completion of extensive trials at Babina (U.P) and Leh. This indicates the vehicle’s capability to perform effectively in different terrains and climatic conditions.
In celebration of this remarkable achievement that contributes to the Make in India initiative, a roll-out ceremony of CCPT Vehicles is Planned in Ordnance Factory Medak, Yeddumailaram, Sangareddy District, Telangana on 30th October 2023, in presence of senior Officials from DG Artillery, DRDO, DGQA and BEL.
