OSD Sumanth: Hyderabad Police Clarity On OSD episode
Police say they tried to meet former OSD for three days amid allegations
Minister Konda Surekha’s residence sees late-night visit to locate Sumanth
Hyderabad, Oct 16: The Hyderabad Police clarified that no case has been registered against N. Sumanth even as allegations of corruption and meddling in settlements sparked a late-night episode at Minister Konda Surekha’s residence.
Officials said they went to the minister’s house to meet Sumanth personally, since he worked as her OSD, and added that they had tried to talk to him for three days.
The development followed the government’s dismissal of Sumanth from duty, which set off a political and public buzz.
However, the sequence escalated around 10 pm on Wednesday when Task Force personnel in mufti reached the Jubilee Hills home to find Sumanth, who was recently removed from his role.
The visit, according to those aware, triggered sudden chaos at the residence. Therefore, the police issued a clarification to explain their approach and the status of the matter.
Meanwhile, officials underlined that there are many allegations against Sumanth, who served as OSD to Minister Konda Surekha.
They reiterated that despite these allegations, no formal case has been registered so far.
Hyderabad police stated that if he becomes available, they will investigate only the allegations against him.
This position sought to address speculation after the late-night attempt to contact him at the minister’s residence.
The police framed the outreach as an effort to seek Sumanth’s version directly in light of the complaints being spoken about.
Then, by noting the absence of a registered case, the clarification drew a line between the ongoing fact-finding and any immediate criminal action.
Therefore, the emphasis remained on procedural steps: establishing contact, recording explanations, and determining the next course based on the allegations.
The episode, however, brought the focus squarely on due process and the need for clear communication as the matter proceeds.
