Osmania University Pays Tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar & Babu Jagjivan Ram
Hyderabad, Mar 7 (Maxim News): The SC/ST Cell of Osmania University organized a memorial lecture series on March 6, 2025, to commemorate the monumental contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram to social justice and national development.
The event was inaugurated with a welcome address by Professor I. Daisy, Director, SC/ST Cell, and was supported by Dr. Hameeda Bee, Director, Minorities Cell, and Dr. Upender, Director, BC Cell. Distinguished dignitaries in attendance included Professor Kumar Molugaram, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University, and Professor Surya Dhananjay, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University. Professor B. Lavanya, Dean, Development and UGC Affairs, Osmania University.
Professor C. Kaseem, Principal of Arts College, reflected on Babu Jagjivan Ram’s pivotal role in shaping India’s political and social landscape.

Professor L.C. Mallaiah, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad, provided an in-depth analysis of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s instrumental contributions, particularly in drafting the Indian Constitution and advocating for social equality.
Professor Nageshwar Rao, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad, further elaborated on the enduring legacies of both icons. A cultural tribute by the Kranthi School of Natyalaya added an artistic dimension to the event, honoring their ideals through expressive performances.
The presence of Professor P. Vishnu Dev, Director,Phule – Ambedkar Centre for Inclusive and Empowerment Studies, Ambedkar Research Centre, Dr. B. Ram Shepherd, Director, Centre for Telangana Studies, along with esteemed professors, research scholars, and students, enriched the discussions, making the event a meaningful platform for academic reflection.
The memorial lectures successfully reinforced the values of equality, empowerment, and social justice, echoing the lifelong missions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram. (Maxim News)
