Over 42,000 Applications Received For Liquor Shops
Hyderabad, Oct.17 (Maxim News): State Excise department which opened the doors for huge income with its new liquor policy, had received a record number of 42,905 applications for opening of liquor shops in the State, till Wednesday. The last date for applications was October 17. The State’s New liquor policy will be effective from November 1, 2019, to November 1, 2021.
Who will be lucky among the large number of applicants will be known on October 18 when the shop owners will be selected through lottery.
The number of liquor shops to be opened in the State was fixed at 2,216, including 173 in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The State Government is focussed to increase alcohol sales to gain huge profits and to substantially increase the revenue of the state as liquor is the main source of income to the state.
The TRS government has increased the non-refundable application fee from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh which is double the previous amount. This did not have any effect on the people of the State, and huge number of applications have been received. The Excise department created a record in 2017 by receiving 41,000 applications and gained an income of 410 crores, through a non-refundable application fee. Now, the department has received 42,905 applications and the revenue generated will be double when compared to 2017 due to an increase in the non-refundable application fee. Finally, the Telangana new liquor policy scheme yielded fruitful results to the CM KCR government.
Of the 42,905 applications filled in Telangana for new liquor policy, some applications were received from people of Andhra Pradesh.(Maxim News)
