Over 92,000 Cases Booked For Lockdown Violations in Rachakonda

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police have booked over 92,000 cases against violators since the lockdown was imposed on May 12.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, who participated in a vehicle checking exercise on Tuesday, said each day hundreds of people were being caught for violating lockdown guidelines and several vehicles were being seized.

Officials said a total of 92,498 cases were booked since the implementation of the lockdown began from May 12 until Tuesday morning. Of them, 64,811 cases were booked for lockdown violation, 23,745 for not wearing or improper wearing of masks, 3,051 cases for not observing physical distance at public places and 891 cases for large public gatherings. The total number of vehicles seized was 22,092.

“We have set up 46 check-posts. I urge people to stay home and stay safe,” Bhagwat said.

Commending the efforts of the police force performing lockdown enforcement duties round the clock on the ground, the Commissioner warned erring citizens to strictly follow lockdown guidelines or to face legal consequences.
