Senior Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Palvai Govardhan Reddy, died of a massive heart attack, at Shimla, where he was attending a standing committee meeting. He complained of chest pain and was admitted to the hospital, where he passed away.
Another Congress leader, Ponnam Prabhakar, said that Palvai had been the only leader, who bridged the gap between the old and new Congress men. Rising in ranks from the time of Pt. Nehru, Palvai was in the Youth Congress and took an active part in Telangana movement.
