Hyderabad, Sept.17 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister S. Niranjan Reddy today told the Assembly that some 56.76 lakh farmers in the State were found eligible under Rytu Bandhu scheme this year and payments were already deposited into the bank accounts of 39.72 farmers so far. The payments to the remaining farmers were under process, he said.
Replying to questions from members in the House during question hour, Niranjan Reddy explained that the State government had paid Rs 10,505 crore to the farmers under the scheme last year. The TRS government had decided to enhance financial assistance to farmers from Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 per acre for each Karif and Rabi totaling Rs 10,000 per acre per year during 2019-20.
Agriculture Minister pointed out while there are various conditions under Pradhan Manthri Kisan Samman Yojana, in which the Centre pays Rs 6,000 per year to farmers payable in three installments, there are no such conditions in the Rytu Bandhu scheme. He pointed out that under the Central scheme, only 33 lakh farmers were announced eligible for the aid, but they paid only Rs 125 crore among 75,000 farmers.
Singireddy explained that the State government was paying the assistance to those having even one cent of land. The State paid Rs 10,505 crore to the farmers last year, including small and marginal farmers, most of them were receiving Asara pensions. He also said the State was paying Rs 50,000 lump sum to those farmers having more than five acres. The government was paying Rs 75,000 for each farmer per year, he added.
The government would provide Rs 7,250 crore financial aid to them during the 2019 Kharif season. For 2019-20 year, Rs 7,254 crore was earmarked to pay to some 56.76 lakh farmers in Kharif. Of them Rs, 4,371 crore has already been credited in the Bank accounts of the farmers. The balance amount of Rs. 2,878 crore would be paid soon, the minister said. (Maxim News)
