Hyderabad, April 11 (Maxim News): Polling for Lok Sabha elections in Telangana peacefully came to an end at 5 pm except Nizamabad. Across the nation, the general elections are scheduled for seven phases and the first was over in 91 segments in 20 States on Thursday.
While all other 16 segments completed the polling process by time, Nizamabad where 185 candidates were in fray continued till 6 pm as per schedule and allow the voters, who already reached the polling stations and in queue lines to cast their votes. Due to scorching summer heat, the voter turnout was low compared to the previous Assembly polls. At 3 pm, the polling percentage was put at 48.95 per cent and in Hyderabad it was recorded at below 30 per cent.
Adilabad (ST) recorded 66.76%; Peddapalli (SC)-59.24; Karimnagar-68.00; Nizamabad-54.20 ; Zaheerabad-67.80 ; Medak-68.60 ; Malkajgiri-42.75 ; Secunderabad-39.20; Hyderabad-39.49 ; Chevella-53.80; Mahbubnagar-64.99; Nagarkurnool (SC)-57.12 ; Nalgonda-66.11; Bhongir-68.25; Warangal (SC)-60.00; Mahabubabad-59.90; Khammam-67.96 . State registered an overall voter turnout of 60.57 in the Lok Sabha polls by 5 pm on Thursday.
Medak Lok Sabha constituency topped the list with 68.60 per cent, followed by Bhongir with 68.25 per cent. Karimnagar, Khammam Lok Sabha and Zaheerabad constituencies also witnessed a high turnout of 68 per cent, 67.96 per cent and 67. 80 per cent respectively. (Maxim News)
