Peddapalli: Three Cows Were Killed By A Tiger In Mutharam Mandal

Peddapalli: Three cows were killed by a tiger in Machupeta village of Mutharam mandal on Monday. The big cat, which has been moving in Mutharam mandal during the last two days, attacked cows near Bahullagutta hillocks area and killed them. After killing cows, it sauntered into the nearby forest. Villagers, who found the carcasses of cows, informed the forest officials.

The tiger, which has been moving in the adjacent Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district, during the last one week, entered into Peddpalli district by crossing the river Manair between Adavisrirampur-Khammampalli of Mutharam mandal on Sunday.

After finding the tiger at Sithampalli of Mutharam mandal, local people alerted forest officials. Forest officials led by DFO Raviprasad rushed the village and measured the pug marks. Besides starting efforts to trace out the movement of the tiger, people belonging to surrounding villagers have also been asked not to venture into forests.

The tiger, which is believed to have the state from adjacent Chhattisgarh, moved in Mahamutharam, Malhar and Chityal mandals of Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district for one week. On August 30, it killed a cow owned by Nunavath Sammaiah in Nimmagudem of Mahamutharam manal of Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district. Presuming that the tiger could travel 30 to 40 kilometers in a day, forest officials began efforts to find the movements of the tiger.

In a statement, Additional Collector Laxminarayana advised the villagers, farmers and shepherds not to venture into forest since the tiger was moving in Mutharam mandal.
