PG Courses In Sciences, M.COM Would Be Opened For Graduates From Any Stream: OU

Hyderabad, March 27 (Maxim News): Prof D. Ravinder, Vice Chancellor of Osmania University (OU) conveyed that in future the medical, Engineering candidates will be eligible for PG courses in Sciences, and M.Com would be opened up for graduates from any stream from the coming academic year, 2023-24.

Addressing the introductory meeting of the Academic Senate at OU today, the Vice Chancellor thanked the past members who have rendered services to the administration and welcomed the new members to the senate said 70 courses will be offered by the PGRRCDE under the Open Distance Learning Mode and all the courses under the CDE – Centre for Distance Education will be as per semester system from now on. He lauded the efforts of all the stakeholders for the improvement in the NIRF ranking of the University from 46th position to 22nd and exhorted members to strive hard for a better ranking in the coming years. Later the Vice Chancellor shared the signing of the Academic MoUs with Universities in the UK, Japan, and Thailand.
He professedly thanked the Government for the budget allocation made to Osmania University.

The University Budget for the Financial Year 2023-24 was presented by Sr. Prof. R. Nageshwar Rao from the Department of Business Management, OU. In the Budget Estimates for FY 23-24.

He conveyed that the budgeted expenditure is Rs. 752.79 Crores and the budgeting receipts are Rs. 685.79 Crores and there is a shortfall of Rs. 42.64 crores on Pay & Allowance, Pensions, and maintenance expenditure.

Also conveyed that the Block grant allocated by the Government in the Budget to the University for the Year 2023-24 is inadequate, the Government would be requested to sanction of full-fledged and enhanced Block Grant to overcome the shortfall.

The University proposes to strengthen the infrastructure and facilities and among them, it is working towards strengthening outreach and extension services, introducing biometric attendance in all the Offices and colleges, launching skill-based programmes, and enhancing employability and communication skills.

The annual report and highlights of the academic and highlights of achievements and improvements in the infrastructure were presented in detail by Prof. C. Muralikrishna, Chairman of, the Annual Report Committee.

Later, discussions were held on the budget and the academic Agenda. The members present unanimously approved the budget.

Prof. P. Laxminarayana thanked all the members from the teaching, non-teaching, and administration for their hard work and input in conducting the Academic Senate and Budget presentation. Executive Council Members, Deans, Directors, and Principals attended the meeting. (Maxim News)
