Phone Tapping Case: BRS Leader Harish Rao Booked

A tapping case has been registered against former minister T. Harish Rao and others at Panjagutta Police Station. The complainant, Gadhagoni Chakradhar Goud, a real estate businessman and founder of “Farmers First Foundation,” alleged harassment, threats, and unlawful phone surveillance.

As per the complaint, Goud claimed that his charitable activities, including financial support to families of farmers who had committed suicide, led to animosity with T. Harish Rao. The complaint details instances of alleged threats, fabricated cases, and unauthorized surveillance by Rao and associates.

Key Allegations in the Complaint

•Political Grudge: Goud alleges that his charitable initiatives in Siddipet drew public support, which created a political rivalry with T. Harish Rao.
•False Cases: The complainant reported being implicated in multiple fabricated cases, including http://Cr.No. 49/2023 under IPC Section 376 r/w 511 and others at Ghatkesar and CCS police stations.
•Threats: Goud claimed he received threatening messages and was warned to stop his charitable and political activities.
•Phone Tapping: Goud cited an email from Apple in August 2023, which warned of state-sponsored surveillance on his devices. He suspects his phone, his wife’s phone, and those of his associates were illegally tapped during the 2023 elections.
•Election Interference: The complaint mentions that supporters of Goud were threatened during his campaign for the Siddipet MLA seat.

Action Taken by Police

Upon receiving the complaint on December 1, 2024, SHO Panjagutta B. Shobhan registered a case (http://Cr.No. 1205/2024) under the following sections:
•120(B) IPC – Criminal conspiracy
•386 IPC – Extortion
•409 IPC – Criminal breach of trust
•506 IPC – Criminal intimidation
•66 IT Act – Offenses under the Information Technology Act

An investigation into the allegations is underway.

Background of the Complaint

Goud detailed in his complaint that he had repeatedly approached the police and filed petitions about alleged harassment and illegal surveillance but received no action. He further stated that the surveillance activities and fabricated cases were attempts to tarnish his reputation and obstruct his political career.
