PM Modi To Set Up Mega Textile Park In Telangana
Delhi/Hyderabad, Mar 18 (Maxim News): Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced to set up of a mega textile park in Telangana under PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel).
The Prime Minister has also announced the setting up of mega textile parks in the state of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
The Central government will provide assistance for these parks categorized into Greenfield and Brownfield, under this scheme 49 percent will be borne by the Center and 51 percent have to be borne by the respective State governments.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his son, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, IT and Industries K. Tarak Rama Rao had personally appealed to the Prime Minister to set up a mega textile park in Telangana for the last six years, which has been paid off finally with the Centre finally announcing the setting up of a mega textile park in the state.
After the Azamjahi Mill shut down long ago and considering the rich history of Warangal, the State government decided to set up a mega textile park. To this effect, 2,000 acres were allocated at Shayampet. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation for the mega textile park on October 22, 2017.
Under the first phase, 1,200 acres were acquired and Rs. 1,552 crores of expenditure were estimated. Of this, Rs. 1,100 crores were estimated for the provision of basic amenities. (Maxim News)
