- Government sources say Seva Tirth reflects doorstep governance vision
- Move linked to new office shift and Central Vista Executive Enclave
The Prime Minister’s Office will now be known as Seva Tirth. Government sources said the decision aligns with the idea of taking governance to the doorstep of citizens. The Prime Minister has been working from the PMO located in South Block until now. However, the office will soon shift to a new space. The input states that the new office was earlier known as the Executive Enclave under the Central Vista Development Project.
Meanwhile, officials said the renaming aims to match the broader theme of service-driven administration. They noted that the change reflects the Centre’s push to present the Prime Minister’s work as part of a public-centric approach. Therefore, the shift in name comes with the physical move to the new office complex.
On the other hand, the Centre is also renaming Raj Bhavan, the official residence of governors, to Lok Bhavan. The input mentions that some states have already changed the names of their Raj Bhavans. The decision signals a coordinated effort to bring uniform terminology to key government residences. It also reflects the government’s interest in updating legacy names.
The move to rename both the PMO and Raj Bhavan marks a significant moment in the Central Vista redevelopment process. The project has brought major structural changes to core administrative spaces. Now, the naming changes add another layer to this transition. Officials said the updates match the wider theme of making government spaces feel more connected to citizens. They also said the shift to the new office space is part of ongoing redevelopment work. The renaming, however, remains the central point of this update.
