Hyderabad: PoK refugees letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has drawn national attention, as refugees sought urgent intervention on Pakistan occupied Kashmir. The letter was sent to the Prime Minister’s Office by SOS International, an organisation representing PoK refugees. In the letter, the refugees appealed to the central government to take decisive steps on PoK. They urged the government to act in a manner similar to the recent US army operation in Venezuela. Therefore, the appeal has become a subject of wide discussion.
According to the PoK refugees letter, the organisation’s chairman Rajiv Chuni urged the Indian government to launch strong action against terrorist groups hiding in PoK. The letter specifically referred to the capture and extradition of Hizbul Mujahideen chief and most wanted terrorist Syed Salahuddin to India. The refugees stressed that such steps were necessary to address long standing security threats. Meanwhile, they pointed out that PoK has turned into a major base for anti India activities.
The PoK refugees letter also stated that PoK has become a launch pad for terrorists, drug mafia, and illegal arms supply. The refugees expressed concern that these activities pose a serious threat to India’s national security. Therefore, they argued that strong measures are needed once again, similar to earlier surgical strikes. They maintained that only firm action can dismantle the terror infrastructure operating from PoK.
Later, the refugees urged the government to place national interest above international reactions or pressure. The letter stated that PoK has been an integral part of India since historical times. It further claimed that freeing PoK and formally merging it with India is the only permanent solution. The appeal clearly reflected the long held demands of PoK refugees. However, the letter did not mention any timeline or specific operational details.
Rajiv Chuni also made a strong statement while referring to global developments. He said, “Just like Maduro was caught in Venezuela, Salahuddin should be caught and brought before an Indian court. This is the eternal dream of crores of refugees.” This statement was included verbatim in the PoK refugees letter. Therefore, it added weight to the demands raised by the refugees.
At a time when border tensions are rising and international political equations are changing fast, the PoK refugees letter has assumed significance. There is now growing interest across the country over how the central government will respond. Meanwhile, officials have not issued any official response so far. The appeal continues to spark debate on security, diplomacy, and national policy related to Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
