Hyderabad, Nov.26 (Maxim News): APCC former president Ponnala Laxmaiah on Tuesday thanked the Poultry India organization for conferring Poultry Legend Award on him. Speaking on the occasion, he said he had faced a lot of insults as he came from a poor family in his initial days of life. He said he had studied very hard after coming to the conclusion that he couldn’t live a life of dignity without proper education.
Lakshmaiah said he was the first person to clear the 10th class exam in his village. He also said he was the one who went to the US after obtaining a scholarship from the Nizam Trust. He said he had taken loan to pursue higher education in the US. Lakshmiaiah recalled that although he got a good job at NASA in the US, he returned to India in the year 1978 with the sole objective of serving the country.
He said he had started Tirumala Hatcheries in the year 1978 and that was the main reason behind starting the poultry business was to encourage agriculture and allied industries in the State at that point of time.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said he had focused on the development of poultry industry and encouraged farmers a lot to deliver their attention on the poultry business. He said they had given subsidies to the farmers by forming the private company. He made It clear that the poultry was the only business where one can make a lot of profit by making investment. He requested the State government to protect the poultry industry by regulating imports. He also requested the State government to constitute an expert committee on the issue. He also requested the State government to come to the rescue of the agriculture sector. (Maxim News)
