Prepare For Fair Panchayat Polls: CS

Hyderabad, Jan.5 (Maxim News): Chief Secretary SK Joshi today instructed the officials concerned to conduct the Panchayat polls in a perfect manner. “Prepare for polls, make arrangements and ensure security at the polling stations”, he told officials.

Addressing a video conference with Collectors, SPs, officials concerned from Secretariat here, the Chief Secretary asked the departments to coordinate for smooth and fair polls. State Election Commissioner V Nagi Reddy, DGP Mahender Reddy and Panchayat officials were present and spoke on the occasion. Joshi said the panchayat polls to be held in three phases on January 21, 25 and 30 have to be conducted in a peaceful way. He said the Collectors and district administration with police officials make the elections free and fair. “Ensure the equipment in place at all the polling stations in districts. Provide all required facilities at the polling stations along with security and easy movement of the voters to exercise their franchise”, he said and asked the officials to take stock of the facilities and improve them wherever necessary. Power supply, water, sheds and security are factors for the smooth polls in all panchayats, he said.

SK Joshi said the State government issued a notification to conduct the village panchayat polls in 4,480 panchayats on January 21, 4137 panchayats on January 25 and 4,115 panchayats on January 30 respectively. (Maxim News)
