The fire reportedly began after a gas cylinder exploded at the popular Birs Nightclub on Romeo Lane in Arpora, North Goa, on Saturday night. At least 25 people were killed and around 50 injured. The victims included three women and four tourists. Reports stated that 16 of the dead were club staff. Three staff members were trapped in the fire and died, while the others died of suffocation. The incident raised serious concerns about safety conditions inside crowded entertainment venues.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause and circumstances of the fire. The tragedy has once again brought public attention to fire safety rules and the need for strict compliance in commercial establishments.
