President Refuses To Give Appointment To Trinamool Congress Leaders
Delhi/Hyderabad, Mar 13 (Maxim News): Trinamool Congress leaders who sought an appointment to meet President Droupadi Murmu were disappointed. A 12-member TMC delegation had sought an appointment with the President to explain the steps taken by the government for the welfare of tribals in West Bengal. However, they have not received any response so far, TMC MP Saugata Roy said on Friday.
Party sources said that TMC MP Derrick O’Brien wrote a letter to the President on the 9th of this month seeking an appointment, but there was no response. However, it seems that the President did not give the appointment due to lack of time. Recently, protocol violations occurred when the President went to Siliguri to participate in the 9th International Santal Conference. The President expressed his displeasure over this.
During the President’s visit, she did not receive an official welcome from the Chief Minister or the ministers. The President expressed dissatisfaction over the arrangements for the event, the choice of venue, etc. She said that she too was playing Bengali and that the CM was probably angry with her. The BJP also condemned this move. However, Mamata Banerjee said that there were no protocol violations during the President’s visit and there was no prior information. She also expressed doubts about the President’s visit during the elections. (Maxim News)
