Presidential elections: AP CM Jagan to support BJP nominee Draupadi Murmu

Amaravati, June 22: After the BJP announced former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu as its candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, people of Telugu states are anxious to know as to whether chief ministers K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will support the BJP nominee or Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha, a former Union Minister.

Putting an end to speculation, KCR made it clear that the TRS will extend support to Yashwant Sinha while Jagan declared support to Murmu. The votes of the YSRCP MLAs and MPs are crucial for the BJP candidate to become next President. The 4% vote share of the YSRCP will be enough for Murmu to grab top post as BJP is in short of 1.4% votes.

It is learnt that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah sought cooperation of the YSRCP for their candidate when Jagan met them recently. The CM also assured them that the YSRCP will support the BJP candidate.
