Prison Wall Collapsed Due To Earthquake In Pakistan, 216 Prisoners Escaped
Karachi/internet/Hyderabad, June 3 (Maxim News): Around 216 prisoners escaped from Malir district jail in Pakistan. The incident took place on Monday night. The jail wall collapsed due to the earthquake. Officials say that the prisoners in the jai cells escaped due to this. The tremors started on Sunday, causing unrest among the prisoners. However, heavy gunfire was heard in the areas around Malir jail. Videos are going viral on social media.
The police said that a special operation has been launched to arrest the escaped prisoners. Currently, 86 prisoners have been taken into custody. The jail area has been sealed.
Only those who show their identity cards are being allowed inside. Sindh Provincial Prisons .Minister Ali Hassan Zardari has sought a report on the jail break.
During the height of the earthquake, attempts were made to shift the prisoners in the cells of Circle No. 4 and 5 of the jail to a safe area. At that time, 600 prisoners in various cells came out of the cells.
It is said that 216 prisoners escaped from them. Another 135 prisoners are still missing. Police officials said that the escaped prisoners have been identified.
Inspector General Ghulam Nabi memon said that a large percentage of the prisoners in Malir Jail are involved in drug-related cases. A large percentage of them suffer from mental problems. (Maxim News)
