Provide basic amenities on ORR: Gudur

Hyderabad, May 15 (Maxim News): Bharatiya Janata Party state (BJP) senior leader Gudur Narayana Reddy on Sunday demanded the government to provide basic amenities like washrooms and shower rooms on the Outer Ring Road of Hyderabad.

In a media statement, he wanted the government to take immediate steps to provide these facilities on the ORR in view of the problems being faced by lakhs of commuters every day.

He said that the government should provide these facilities through its own funds or through private organizations. He suggested that voluntary services could also be used.

He said that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) should be entrusted with these responsibilities immediately.

The BJP leader said that though the government is earning thousands of crores of rupees of revenue selling of government lands and through toll gates, it was not focusing on providing essential services to the common people in Hyderabad, Outer Ring Road and other places.

He said that Municipal Administration minister KT Rama Rao should direct the civic bodies to look into the issue immediately who makes tall claims on achievements of the government.

Narayana Reddy suggested that minister and officials of MAUD should travel on the ORR and find out the issues being faced by the commuters on it. They should speak to the commuters to know their problems.

He said that on the 153 kilo meters long Outer Ring Road there are no facilities for the commuters. He said that there were no toilets and shower rooms on the lay bys of the ORR.

He said that diabetic patients who have to attend nature calls frequently have been finding it difficult to empty their bladder. Women are facing more problems as they could not find a washroom on the long stretch of the ORR.

Gudur said that once a motorist enters the ORR he or she could not find any basic facilities till exit the road. Parking is not allowed on ORR and this has been making travelling more torturous for the motorist.

He said that BJP demands the government to provide essential amenities on the ORR for the benefit of the commuters immediately.

He suggested paid services may be provided on the ORR as most of the commuters own cars and can bear the costs. He said that these facilities should be provided at every 10 kilo meters on the ORR. (Maxim News)
