Rachakonda Police Book 25,000 Cases Against Lockdown Violators

Hyderabad: In barely 10 days after the lockdown was announced, the Rachakonda Police have booked over 25,000 cases against violators.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, who participated in vehicle checking at ECIL Crossroads along with Kushaiguda law and order and Traffic Police officers here on Friday, said that on Thursday alone, police seized 1,579 vehicles for violating lockdown rules apart from booking 4,054 cases.

Officials said a total of 25,537 cases have been booked since the implementation of the lockdown from May 12 until now. Of them, 17,360 cases were booked for lockdown violation, 6,367 for not wearing or improper wearing of masks, 1,228 cases for not observing physical distance at public places, 337 cases for large public gatherings and 245 cases of boozing at open places.

“We have set up 46 check-posts. I urge people to stay home and stay safe,” Bhagwat said.

Commending the efforts of the police force performing lockdown enforcement duties round the clock on the ground, the Commissioner warned erring citizens to strictly follow lockdown guidelines or to face legal consequences.
