Rahul Gandhi detained by Delhi Police

New Delhi, July 26: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, was held by the Delhi Police on Tuesday after he and several lawmakers protested the Central government by sitting between Parliament House and the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Following Sonia Gandhi’s interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the absence of debate on crucial topics like price increases in Parliament, Congress MPs staged a protest march from Parliament House to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Delhi Police, however, stopped the legislators in their tracks close to Vijay Chowk as they were on their way toward President Droupadi Murmu to deliver a message.

Following that, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress lawmakers sat in opposition in front of Vijay Chowk.

With signs in hand, the protesting Congress leaders chanted epithets against the ED and the federal government.

There was a significant police presence, including Rapid Action Force and paramilitary units.

At first, the police detained other political figures, including female MPs, but eventually Deepender Singh Hooda and Rahul Gandhi were left unattended.

“What’s the issue? To meet the President and deliver the message, we want to travel there. Why aren’t we permitted?” While speaking with a Delhi Police official, Rahul Gandhi could be overheard.

The police officers could be seen dragging the female Congress lawmakers before loading them into a bus.

There, a bus was used to transport Rahul Gandhi and the other lawmakers.

Mallikarjun Kharge, the leader of the opposition, and other protesting leaders declared their desire to visit President Murmu and inform her of a number of issues, including the abuse of investigation agencies, particularly to target the Opposition members.

KC Venugopal, a Rajya Sabha member, claimed that the administration is preventing any discussion of price increases and the subject of the ED’s vendetta politics.

“The Parliament is being made fun of by this government. We want to deliver a memo to the Indian President, “said Venugopal. In the meantime, Sonia Gandhi is being questioned at the ED headquarters.
