Congress MP in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his response to a question about Gautam Adani during his visit to the United States. Rahul Gandhi’s Post on X

Posting on the social media platform X, Gandhi wrote, “If you ask questions in the country, there is silence. If you ask abroad, it is a personal matter! Even in America, Modi Ji covered up Adani Ji’s corruption!” He continued by accusing Modi of turning a blind eye to corruption, saying, “When filling a friend’s pocket is ‘nation building’ for Modiji, then taking bribes and looting the nation’s wealth becomes a ‘personal matter.’”

The comments from Rahul Gandhi came after PM Modi’s response to a question during a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump. The question was related to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Adani Group, specifically allegations of bribery. When asked whether the Adani issue had been discussed during the meeting, PM Modi responded by downplaying the topic.

Modi’s Response

PM Modi stated, “Firstly, India is a democratic country, and our culture and philosophy mean that the entire world is a family. Every Indian is my family member. And when it comes to such personal matters, two leaders of two countries will not get together on that topic and discuss anything on an individual matter.”

The question revolved around accusations made by US prosecutors, who have charged Gautam Adani, Asia’s second-richest person, with allegedly helping arrange bribes exceeding $250 million to Indian officials and defrauding US investors. However, the Adani Group has firmly denied all allegations related to these charges.

As the political exchange between the two leaders continues, the controversy surrounding Gautam Adani and his business dealings remains a focal point of debate in Indian politics.
