Rajasthani Film ‘Bharkhama’ Won Special Jury Mention at JIFF 2025

The Rajasthani film Bharkhama made waves at the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2025, earning the distinguished Special Jury Mention Award. The movie’s special screening at GT Inox, Malviya Nagar, Jaipur, left a profound impact on both viewers and critics, marking a significant moment for regional cinema. The event was further elevated by the presence of the film’s cast and crew, who were celebrated for their outstanding contributions.

About the Film

Produced under the banner of Sony Sanwata Entertainment, *Bharkhama* is helmed by director S. Sagar and written by IAS officer Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni. Renowned for his thought-provoking storytelling, Dr. Soni blends Rajasthani literature, cultural heritage, and social commentary into a powerful narrative. The film sheds light on vital societal issues while showcasing the richness of Rajasthan’s traditions. Its soul-stirring songs, penned by lyricist Dhanraj Dadhich, enhanced the emotional depth of the story and struck a chord with the audience.

The Cast

The film features a talented ensemble cast, including Shravan Sagar Kalyan, Anjali Raghav, Garima Kapoor, Rajveer Gurjar, Sahil Chandel, and Jitendra Chawdi. Their compelling performances brought the characters to life, adding authenticity to the film’s vision.  

International filmmaker Uwe Schwarzwalder and JIFF founder-director Hanu Roj attended the screening and lauded the film for its originality and execution. The event also welcomed prominent figures such as Rajveer Gurjar, Niks Bohra, Dhanraj Dadhich, and filmmaker Rakesh Tailor, who shared their appreciation for the project.  

Producer Sony Sanwata described Bharkhama as “a tribute to Rajasthan’s cultural legacy and a platform to address meaningful social issues.” Lead actor Shravan Sagar expressed gratitude, stating, “The love we’ve received inspires us to push the boundaries of regional storytelling.”  

With its unique blend of culture and social relevance, Bharkhama has set a new standard for Rajasthani cinema, proving that regional stories can resonate powerfully on a global stage.
