Delhi, May 22: The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for Rajya Sabha elections to 24 seats falling vacant across 10 states, including four seats from Andhra Pradesh.
According to the Election Commission, the notification for the elections will be issued on June 1. Nominations can be filed from June 1 to June 8, while scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 9.
Candidates will be allowed to withdraw nominations till June 10. Polling for the Rajya Sabha elections will be conducted on June 18, and counting of votes will be held on the same day.
Four Rajya Sabha Seats Falling Vacant In Andhra Pradesh
In Andhra Pradesh, the terms of Rajya Sabha members Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy, Parimal Nathwani, Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and Sana Satish will end on June 21.
The four members were elected from YSRCP and TDP.
The Election Commission said elections will also be held for four seats in Gujarat and Karnataka, three each in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, two in Jharkhand and one each in Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.
Political discussions have intensified in Andhra Pradesh as the ruling alliance currently holds a strong majority with 164 MLAs, improving its chances of winning all four Rajya Sabha seats.
