Rajya Sabha Elections In J&K: BJP Announces Three Candidates
Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 12 (Maxim News) The BJP on Sunday announced the names of three candidates for the four Rajya Sabha seats in Jammu and kashmir to be contested on October 24. Jammu and Kashmir unit President Satpal Sharma is one of them.
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Central Election Committee has approved the 2025 biennial Rajya Sabha elections to be held in JK under three separate notifications, National General Secretary and head Office In-charge Arun Singh said in a statement.
the list of candidates includes Satpal Sharma, Ghulam Mohammad Mir and Rakesh Mahajan. The Election Commission has issued three separate notifications for elections to four seats. The National Conference Congress alliance is leading in three seats, while the BJP has one seat based on its strength in the Assembly. On Friday, the ruling National Conference party in Jammuand Kashmir announced the names of three candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections. They include Chaudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Sajad Kitchloo and Shami sigh Oberoi. It is reported that talks are underway with the Congress for another seat.
The last date for filing nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections is October 13. The elections to the seats vacant since February 2021 will be held on October 24, while the cunting will also be held on the same day. The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly currently has 88 members. The NC-Congress coalition partnership has 52 members, the BJP 28, the PDP 3, the People’s Conference one, the Awami Ittehad Party one, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) one and two independent members.
