Rangareddy District turns up Coronavirus Hotspot

Rangareddy district in Telangana has turned up as coronavirus hotspot After Hyderabad, with the positive cases being on a rise for the past few days.

Rajendranagar, Shabad, Narsingi, Moinabad, Shankarpally, Chandanvelly and Balapur areas of Rangareddy district are witnessing a rapid surge in the cases along with Saroornagar, Serilingampally, LB Nagar and Abdullapurmet under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

So far, Rangareddy has reported 835 coronavirus cases out of which 477 are from GHMC limits. In the last two days, the district reported 171 cases. On Tuesday, non-GHMC areas like Balapur reported 17 new cases followed by Narsingi 11 new cases.

Earlier, areas such as LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Saroornagar, Manikonda and other areas in Rangareddy district had seen a spike in the coronavirus cases. In June first week, the district had cases less than 100 and then it went on to see a sharp rise after the government eased lockdown.

The state is reporting a massive rise in the coronavirus cases since last one week and according to the government officials, the sharp rise in the cases is due to the government intensified the testing. The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also directed the authorities to hold 50,000 tests across 30 assembly constituencies including Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal, Sangareddy and Vikarabad from June 16.
