Ration Shops to Close from September 1? – What You Need to Know!

Ration Shops | Hyderabad, Aug 29 (Maxim News): Ration shops in Telangana will be closed from September 1.

The main reason for this is that they are facing severe financial difficulties as the dues from the government have not been received for five months.

The government is not paying its bills, like commission money and bags used for ration distribution. Ration shop dealers are complaining that they will have to pay all the rent of the shops and salaries of the staff through loans.

In this context, the ration shops will be closed, and agitation programs will be launched. State Ration Dealers Association President Naikoti Raju has strongly criticized the government.

The government boasts that it is providing free rice to the people. But it is neglecting the dues of the dealers.

Ration Shops to Close from September 1?

He said that the government should immediately resolve its demands. Otherwise, he warned that they will close ration shops across the state from September 1. He said that if the dues are not paid by August 31, they will start dharnas.

The association announced that they will hold dharnas near the RDO offices on September 2 and near the collector offices on September 3. He also said that they will hold a dharna near the Assembly in Hyderabad on September 4.

The association demanded ruling Congress Party that the dues of ration dealers and the promises made in the election manifesto to be given.

It has been said that dealers should be given an honorarium of Rs. 5,000 every month. It has also demanded that the commission, which is currently Rs. 140 per quintal, be increased to Rs. 300. It has said that the commission dues of about Rs. 25 crore per month to ration dealers have been stopped.

The association revealed that the five-month arrears, at a rate of about Rs 25 crore per month, have reached Rs 125 crore.

The dealers have warned that they will completely boycott the distribution of fine rice if the money is not released by the end of this month.

Ration Shops Mini Supermarkets

In a protest organized at Indira Park Dharna Chowk, they also appealed to make ration shops mini supermarkets and make more essential commodities available.

However, the total number of ration cards in Telangana is 89.95 lakh. Through these, 2.81 crore beneficiaries are benefiting. The Telangana government started issuing new ration cards from January 26. Since then, how many new people are joining and how much rice they need are being calculated from time to time.

As part of this, 3 months of rice were given at once in June. Seeing that, many people had faith in the government. With that, more people applied for new ration cards in the month of June. (Maxim News)
