RCB Victory Celebrations: Police Lathi Charge On Fans In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 1: Celebrations following Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL title victory turned chaotic near the Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad as large crowds of fans gathered on the streets and allegedly created a disturbance. Police intervened and resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd after the situation escalated.

RCB defeated Gujarat in the IPL final, sparking celebrations across several cities in India. In Hyderabad, hundreds of cricket fans assembled near the Secretariat to mark the team’s victory. However, the celebrations reportedly went beyond control when some fans pushed down barricades and blocked movement in the area.

Witnesses said the crowd raised slogans, cheered loudly, and gathered in large numbers, leading to congestion and security concerns. As the situation intensified, police personnel stepped in to restore order.

Hyderabad Police Disperse RCB Fans After Disturbance

According to reports, police first attempted to control the crowd and clear the area. However, when some individuals allegedly continued to create a disturbance, officers carried out a lathi charge to disperse the gathering. Fans subsequently left the area, and authorities brought the situation under control.

The incident created tension for a brief period near the Secretariat. Videos of the celebrations and police action later surfaced on social media, drawing widespread attention.

Meanwhile, a similar situation unfolded in Kurnool, where cricket fans reportedly took to the streets after the IPL final. Some youths allegedly damaged the windows of a bus and set small fires on roads while celebrating the victory.

Police in Kurnool also intervened to prevent further damage and maintain public order. Authorities dispersed the crowd and restored normalcy in the area.

The incidents have once again highlighted concerns over public safety during large scale celebrations. Police officials have urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions that could endanger public property or disrupt law and order.

Despite the disturbances, the victory sparked celebrations among RCB supporters across the country, as the franchise achieved a historic milestone in the tournament.
