New Delhi / Hyderabad, Sept. 10: The NIA has alleged that Rs 16 lakh funded arms and explosive material linked to the Red Fort blast case.
The agency made the claim in its chargesheet against 13 accused in the case. The chargesheet names alleged suicide bomber Dr Umar Un Nabi, Dr Shaheen Saeed and Muzammil Ganie among others.
According to the NIA, Saeed withdrew Rs 22.5 lakh from two bank accounts on March 11 last year. The agency alleges that she later handed Rs 16 lakh to her husband Ganie.
Investigators say Ganie served as treasurer of the interim Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind module. The NIA claims the money eventually reached Nabi and Adeel Ahmad Rather.
The agency says the funds helped buy weapons and material used to prepare explosives. These items allegedly included chemicals, fertilisers and other materials.
The chargesheet also links the alleged funding to efforts to revive Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind. The agency describes the group as a defunct terror module.
NIA Traces Cash Withdrawals to Arms Purchases
The NIA has described Saeed as a key financial supporter of the alleged module. It relied partly on statements from her former husband during its investigation.
The agency says Saeed maintained an NRE account with ICICI Bank. Around Rs 98 lakh entered that account between July 2018 and May 2020, according to the chargesheet.
Investigators also identified several cash withdrawals in December 2023. Saeed allegedly withdrew Rs 10,000 on 14 occasions from ATMs in Faridabad.
She also allegedly withdrew Rs 90,000 during visits to Anantnag and Srinagar. The NIA claims she later visited locations linked to other accused persons.
According to the chargesheet, Saeed also handled weapons kept at one accused’s location in Srinagar. The agency identified that accused as Shopian cleric Irfan Ahmed Wagay.
The chargesheet records another major cash withdrawal attempt on March 11. Saeed allegedly sought Rs 10 lakh from her ICICI account.
The bank asked her to submit a large cash transaction form. The NIA says she cited her wedding as the reason for the withdrawal.
Investigators allege that she then split another Rs 12.5 lakh into two transactions. They say she withdrew Rs 3.5 lakh through a cheque and Rs 9 lakh separately.
The agency claims the transactions stayed below the reporting threshold. It alleges that the money later reached Nabi and Rather.
Investigators say they recovered sophisticated rifles from Rather’s locker at Anantnag Medical College. They also recovered an AK 47 from Saeed’s car, according to the chargesheet.
The NIA further claims that investigators recovered a large cash amount from the Al Falah University campus. It also alleges that officers found cash inside a locker linked to Saeed and Ganie.
The chargesheet alleges that Ganie influenced Saeed and brought her into the alleged terror network. These remain allegations contained in the investigation agency’s chargesheet.
The NIA has charged 13 people in connection with the case. The agency has linked the alleged financial transactions to the wider conspiracy behind the November 2025 Red Fort blast.
The blast in central Delhi killed 15 people, according to ThePrint’s report. The case remains subject to judicial proceedings, and the allegations will require adjudication by the court.
