Revanth Complains to EC about Police harassment
Hyderabad, April 8 (Maxim News): Congress Party Candidate from Malkajgiri MP seat A. Revanth Reddy on Monday lodged a complaint with election commission of India and alleged that he and his followers and supporters were being harassed by the local police and law enforcement agencies in clear violation of model code of conduct, and stopping him from carrying out his election campaign in the constituency.
He urged the election commission to immediately intervene in the issue and issue appropriate directions to law enforcing agencies not to harass his party workers and followers and ensure that his election campaign went off peacefully till the last day of the campaign. He also urged it to see that no congress party leader and supporter was detained illegally by the local police.
Reddy wrote a letter to the election commission and brought several issues to its notice. In his complaint, he alleged that the law enforcement agencies were harassing him and his followers at the orders of the ruling party. He also alleged that the agencies were creating a lot of hurdles and obstructing his peaceful campaign by stopping his campaign vehicles on the pretext of obtaining permission despite the fact that permission was already given to all his campaign vehicles. He also alleged that the police were following all his supporters round the clock and added that he had already submitted a complaint on the issue to the RO concerned. He also brought to the notice of the election commission that the police were forcing his followers to end his campaign at 7 pm every day as against the prescribed time of 10 pm.(Maxim News)
