Revanth Reddy Directs Comprehensive Urban Development Plan for Core Hyderabad Inside ORR
Hyderabad, June 26 (Maxim News): Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department to formulate a comprehensive development policy for the Core Urban Region located within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) of Hyderabad. The directive also includes drafting separate action plans for semi-urban and rural areas, ensuring balanced growth across the state.
During a high-level review meeting with MA&UD officials in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister was briefed on the ongoing urban infrastructure projects across the city. Emphasizing the urgent need for future-ready urban planning, Revanth Reddy instructed officials to develop a long-term urban infrastructure plan that can support projected population growth over the next 25 years.
Key Focus Areas for Core Urban Region Development:
- Drinking Water Supply
- Sewage and Drainage Systems
- Road Infrastructure
- Metro Connectivity and Elevated Corridors
- Flood Management and Sanitation
The Chief Minister underlined that the plan must prioritize efficient public services and urban mobility solutions, ensuring that infrastructure development keeps pace with Hyderabad’s rapid urbanization.
Transparent Policy for Semi-Urban and Rural Areas
In addition to the city’s core, Revanth Reddy insisted on preparing a transparent and practical development framework for semi-urban and rural communities. The goal is to bridge the urban-rural divide and offer equitable infrastructure development across all regions of Telangana.
Monsoon Preparedness:
With the arrival of the monsoon, the CM stressed the importance of sanitation and public health, directing officials to:
- Identify and eliminate water stagnation points
- Prevent drainage overflow
- Ensure safe drinking water
- Control mosquito breeding to reduce risks of diseases like dengue and chikungunya
He urged that the pending projects under GHMC limits—especially those related to water supply and sewage treatment—should be completed on priority to avoid public inconvenience.
