Revanth Reddy Orders Strict Action In Excise Constable Soumya Death
Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday expressed grief over the Excise Constable Soumya death during an operation against illegal ganja transport in Nizamabad. He said Soumya losing her life in the line of duty was deeply unfortunate. Therefore, he ordered police to ensure strict punishment for those responsible for the Excise Constable Soumya death.
The Chief Minister also assured that the state government would extend full support to Soumya family. Meanwhile, he directed officials to pursue the case seriously. He stressed accountability in the Excise Constable Soumya death case.
Details of Excise Constable Soumya Death
According to officials, the incident occurred on January 23 in Nizamabad district. A gang transporting illegal ganja attempted to escape during interception. In the process, the accused ran over Constable Soumya with their vehicle and fled. As a result, she sustained serious injuries.
Soon after, officials shifted her to NIMS Hospital in Panjagutta for advanced treatment. Doctors provided continuous medical care. However, her condition deteriorated despite their efforts. Later, she died on Saturday night while undergoing treatment.
Soumya was 25 years old and was on active duty during the operation. Hence, the Excise Constable Soumya death has drawn attention within the department. Officials said further legal action is underway.
