Revanth Reddy Urges Southern States to Unite Against Delimitation Injustice
Chennai/Hyderabad, March 22 (Maxim News): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has called on southern states to unite and fight against injustice in the upcoming delimitation process.
Speaking at the Fair Delimitation JAC meeting, CM Revanth emphasized that southern states lead the country in job creation, GDP growth, and welfare implementation. He pointed out the disparity in tax distribution, stating:
- Bihar receives ₹6 for every rupee it pays to the Centre.
- Uttar Pradesh receives ₹2.30, while
- Karnataka gets only 26 paise, Tamil Nadu 16 paise, and Telangana 42 paise.
CM Revanth made it clear that southern states will not accept delimitation based solely on population.
He strongly opposed the dominance of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and other northern states in Parliament, stating that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi intends to implement delimitation in 2026, he must follow the path set by Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, ensuring fairness in the process.
Revanth Reddy suggested that delimitation should be conducted within states, with provisions for women’s reservation and other necessary reforms.
Currently, out of 543 Lok Sabha seats, the southern states hold 130 (24%). CM Revanth Reddy demanded an increase to 33%, ensuring a greater representation for southern states in Parliament. (Maxim News)
