Riyaz Encounter: Minorities Commission chief lauds police, seeks detailed report

Hyderabad, Oct. 22 (Maxim News): Tareq Ansari, Chairman of the Telangana State Minorities Commission, praised the dedication and bravery of the Telangana Police while conveying condolences to the bereaved family of Constable E. Pramod, who died in the line of duty.

He acknowledged the sacrifice and underscored that such service exemplifies commitment to public safety. He also emphasized that institutional support for the fallen constable’s family is vital and timely.

At the same time, the Commission urged that due sensitivity and humane treatment be extended to the family of the deceased accused. The statement balanced the need to honour the slain constable with the principle of dignity for all families touched by the incident. Therefore, it called for restraint in public discourse and careful handling by agencies in accordance with law and human rights norms.

The chairman further called for a comprehensive report from the Director General of Police, Telangana State, on the incident in question. He asked that the report address both the facts and the procedural concerns raised by a petitioner.

He indicated that clarity on the sequence of events, compliance with standing orders, and the handling of custody and security are central to establishing public confidence.

According to the Commission, the report should also outline any interim measures taken by police to prevent recurrence, including directives to field units and supervisory checks. Meanwhile, the chairman noted that such reviews are standard practice when serious allegations surface. He added that transparent communication, consistent with legal requirements, helps reduce speculation and maintains trust.

The Commission reiterated that its role is to uphold rights while supporting lawful policing. It encouraged cooperation between petitioners and authorities so that evidence and testimony are properly examined.

Then, after review of the DGP’s submission, the Commission will consider any further advisories or recommendations. The chairman concluded by reiterating solidarity with Constable Pramod’s family and the expectation of humane engagement with all affected families. (Maxim News)
