Warangal, Sept. 22: Roof tiles reportedly fell from the RICU and physiotherapy departments at Warangal’s MGM Hospital on Tuesday, triggering concern among patients and staff.
The incident occurred a day after a slab collapsed in the hospital’s Aarogyasri ward, injuring eight people.
No one was reportedly present in the affected areas when the latest roof tiles fell, preventing further injuries.
Following the incident, restrictions were reportedly imposed on media access to parts of the hospital. Police personnel were also deployed near the main hospital entrance.
MGM Hospital Faces Fresh Safety Concern
The latest incident came after a slab collapsed in the Aarogyasri ward on Sunday morning.
The slab reportedly gave way around 9 am, causing a section of the ceiling to fall with a loud noise.
Three patients, including Mastan and Sarayya, who were undergoing treatment for paralysis, were among those injured.
Another patient, Swapna, who was receiving treatment for fatigue, also sustained injuries.
Four attendants, identified as Omkar, Yellamma, Bhikshapati and another person, reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Sanitation workers Pushpa and Soundarya were also injured while cleaning the ward.
In total, eight people were injured in the Sunday incident.
The repeated incidents have raised concerns over the condition and safety of the hospital building. Authorities are expected to examine the affected sections and assess the structural safety of the premises.
