Rotarians, SBI And Unipads Foundation To Distribute Reusable Sanitary Pads To Girl Students At Chakali Ailamma Mahila Viswa Vidyalaya
Hyderabad: The Rotary Club of Hyderabad East (RID 3150), in association with State Bank of India (SBI) and Unipads Foundation, is organising the distribution of reusable sanitary pad kits to over 7,000 girl students under Project Shakti – Empowering School-Going Girls.
This program is part of the distribution of Reusable Sanitary Pad Kits to a total of 60000 girls in around 2000 schools in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad, Warangal, Nalgonda, and Peddapalli districts in Telangana State.
The distribution programme will be held on Monday, 2nd February 2026, at 11:30 AM at Chakali Ailamma Mahila Viswa Vidyalaya, Koti, Hyderabad. The initiative aims to promote menstrual health awareness and support the health, dignity, and education of adolescent girls.
Smt. Harichandana Dasari, IAS, Collector, Hyderabad District, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour include Prof. Surya Dhananjay, Vice Chancellor, Mahila University; Sri S. Radhakrishnan, CGM, SBI LHO Hyderabad; and Rtn. Dr S. V. Ram Prasad, District Governor, Rotary International District 3150.
Project Shakti is a large-scale menstrual health and hygiene initiative being implemented across six districts of Telangana — Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Warangal, and Peddapalli — covering over 1,000 schools. With a total project outlay of ₹250 lakh, the initiative is scheduled for completion by February 2026. In addition to the Rotary Club of Hyderabad East, 35 Rotary Clubs are actively collaborating in the distribution and outreach efforts.
The project is being implemented as a Menstrual Health Awareness-cum-Support Programme under the guidelines of the Ministry of Women & Child Welfare, Government of India. The initiative is supported by the Government of Telangana, with Unipads Foundation as the supplying partner, State Bank of India as the sponsoring partner, and the Rotary Club of Hyderabad East (RCHE) as the executing partner.
As part of the project planning, RCHE obtained data of nearly 60,000 school-going girls studying Classes 8 to 10 from about 1,500 schools across Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nizamabad, Nalgonda, and Warangal districts from the Office of the Director of School Education, Government of Telangana. Based on this data, a structured Action Plan was developed for phased distribution of reusable sanitary pads along with basic training and orientation on menstrual hygiene.
Project Shakti aims to create long-term impact by reducing school absenteeism, improving health awareness, and empowering adolescent girls with sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions.
