RRR Director SS Rajamouli Enters Gaming Universe with Surprise Cameo in Hideo Kojima’s ‘Death Stranding 2’

Mumbai, July 12, 2025: In a stunning crossover between Indian cinema and international gaming, celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli has made his digital debut with a cameo in the upcoming video game “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach”, helmed by legendary Japanese game creator Hideo Kojima.

The “Baahubali” and “RRR” director revealed that his likeness was scanned by Kojima Productions during a visit to Japan in 2022, where he was promoting the global release of “RRR”.

“I had no clue where the scan would be used,” Rajamouli said in a statement. “I just sensed something magical was in the making. To now see myself featured in ‘Death Stranding 2’ is a true honour. Kojima-san is a visionary, and I’m humbled to be a small part of his extraordinary universe.”

Kojima Confirms the Cameo

Hideo Kojima confirmed the cameo through a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), sharing behind-the-scenes images of Rajamouli’s visit to Kojima Productions:

“Director SS Rajamouli visited KJP!!! We have scanned him. ‘RRR’,” Kojima wrote, exciting fans of both the cinematic and gaming worlds.

“Death Stranding 2: On the Beach”, a sequel to the 2019 cult hit “Death Stranding”, is expected to be one of the biggest video game releases of the year. The game boasts a star-studded cast including Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, Troy Baker, Elle Fanning, and director George Miller of Mad Max fame.
