Rs. 30 Lakhs Fine On Ex-MLA For Suppressing German Citizenship

Hyderabad, Dec 9 (Maxim News): Justice B.vijaysen Reddy on Monday imposed a fine of Rs. 30 lakh on former Vemulawada MLA Dr. Chennamaneni Ramesh on charges of ‘suppressing’ his German citizenship before the court.

The court, in its order, said Dr. Ramesh should pay Rs. 25 lakh to present Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas, who had challenged the Indian citizenship of Dr. Ramesh, for the losses he had incurred while fighting the case in court.  The remaining Rs. 5 lakh was to be paid to the Telangana State Legal Service Authority. 

The judge, after pronouncing the order, said Dr. Ramesh could not furnish documents from the German Embassy that could prove that he was not a citizen of Germany.

The judge, pointing out that Dr. Ramesh was an MLA of Vemulawada despite holding German citizenship, dismissed the writ petition filed by Dr. Ramesh challenging the order of the Union Home Secretary declaring that he was not an Indian citizen.  (Maxim News)
