The bandh has been called by the BC associations’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) to demand 42 percent reservation for Backward Classes.

In a press release on Friday, Union General Secretary Thomas Reddy confirmed the decision. He said the call follows the High Court stay on the state government’s BC reservation Government Order. He urged the central and state governments to implement reservation through law.

The union said it stands with the BC JAC in this rights-based struggle. It described the bandh as a democratic protest. It said the aim is to secure legal backing for the reservation demand. It also noted that the JAC has led the call across Telangana. Therefore, the union tied its support to the wider state-level action.

Thomas Reddy said the High Court’s stay has created uncertainty. He said only clear legislation can resolve the issue. He urged authorities to act without delay. He stated that the central and state governments must move to protect BC rights. He framed the bandh as a lawful plea for justice.
