SC Lawyers Given Petitions To CEC On The Conduct Of The Telangana Elections
Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 19 (Maxim News): The supreme court Advocates have sent petitions to the Central Election Commission on the Telangana Elections-2023.
Requests were made that the EC should examine the assets and cases of the candidates contesting the elections and ensure that the election rules are properly implemented by the candidates.
Advocate Jagan of the Supreme Court said that the income of the candidates who contested in 2018 has increased tremendously in five years now and asked them to look into it. The previous affidavit and the newly submitted affidavit should be compared. he said that it should be examined in advance how the income has increased in these five years. Many candidates are not following the eleciton rules. He said
The distribution of money and liquor has increased in Telangana. He said that the Election Commission has the responsibility to stop the flow of money and alcohol and not influence the voters in the Telangana elections.
The surveillance of election officials is very important at present. Newspapers and TV that advertise for votes should also advertise on criminal cases. A complete scrutiny of the income verification of the candidate is requested. Candidates who do not have any criminal cases should not contest the elections. Scrutiny of candidates’ affidavits should be honest. The candidates who are looking at the election expenses wrongly should increase the monitoring of the candidates. The lawyer asked the Central Election Commission to control the distribution of liquor during the elections in Telangana and to deal with the illegal activities of the candidates. (Maxim News)
