SC Shock Kavitha: Asks to Attend Inquiry in Delhi Liquor Scam

SC Shock to Kavitha | Delhi/Hyderabad, Mar 15 Maxim News): Supreme Court has given a shock to the BRS MLC K.Kavitha and the daughter of the Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao as the court has refused to give interim order from attending the inquiry by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi Liquor Scam.

With this decision of the Supreme Court, Kavitha has to attend the ED inquiry on March 16.

Kavitha approached the Supreme court on the notices of the ED in the Delhi Liquor case. She filed a petition against calling the ED office for questioning a woman.

Kavitha stated that in the notices given to them, the ED said that they would investigate together with others, but they did not do so.

Kavitha brought to the attention of the Court that the mobile phones were seized without prior information.

According to section 160 of the Cr.PC, a woman should only be questioned at her home. She objects to calling the ED office. The Chief Justice of India bench Y. Chandrachud said that this petition is being investigated.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court has not announced any decision on Kavita’s attendance at the ED hearing on March 16.

The bench refused to give interim orders and to hear immediately, The Chief Justice of India bench clarified that it will hear the arguments on March 24.

Delhi Excise Policy

As per the ED, Kavitha was linked to a ‘south group’ liquor cartel that paid kickbacks amounting to about Rs 100 crore to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to gain a larger share of the market in the national capital under the Delhi excise policy for 2020-21. The cartel, according to the ED, comprises Sarath Reddy (promoter of Aurobindo Pharma), Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy (YSR Congress MP), his son Raghav Magunta, Kavitha and others. (Maxim News)
