Scene Repeats In Karnataka: Governor Walks Out After Reading Just Two Lines
Bengaluru/Hyderabad, Jan 22 (Maxim News): Like Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the scene was repeated in Karnataka. Governor Thawarchand Gehlot set aside the copies of the speeches prepared by the government as part of the first assembly session in Karnataka in the new year without reading them. He ended his speech in two lines by saying “This state is walking on the path of progress.” I wish the sessions to be successful“. He then left the house.
This matter led to differences between the Governor’s office and the state government. The Congress objected to this move. CM Siddaramaiah said that this was an unconstitutional act.
For two years, Governor Thawar Chand has been reading the speeches prepared by the Congress government in both the houses as usual. But this time, it seems that he has changed his attitude. He had objected in advance to the way his speech was prepared with elements criticizing the central government. With that, there was excitement as to whether he would actually come to the house on Thursday. However, the CM invited him to the house when he finally came. With that, there was an impression that the differences of opinion on the speech had been resolved. But, it soon became clear that there was nothing of the sort. He read just two lines and left the house.
“The Governor read his own speech, instead of the speech prepared by the Cabinet. He did not act constitutionally. We will protest against this. We are also considering approaching the Supreme Court,” Siddaramaiah responded. (Maxim News)
